May 30th, 2012 | WCN Career Club - Tune up your voice!
When: May 30th, 18:30
Where: Expat Center-Schmerlingplatz 3, 1010 Vienna
Tune up your voice!
Have you ever been in a situation where no one listened to you? Have you ever wondered what makes you listen to some people more than to others? Why some voices are more powerful than others? How actors manage their voice to make themselves audible in large theatres?
The success of communication actually depends little on content; it is the sound of the voice which significantly influences our perception of a person. The good news is that you can easily tune up your voice with techniques that make your voice dynamic and yourself remarkable. Our voice is our own and very personal instrument, and as for all instruments, it depends on the technique how to generate a powerful sound.
In this 2-hour workshop, you will learn how to tune up your voice for different uses such as speeches, presentations and meetings. We will practice different techniques to project your voice around a room. Different exercises will unfold your resonances, articulation, sound and dynamic. We will then train how to use these skills in a small presentation. Please feel free to bring your own text piece for this exercise.
The sound makes the difference!

Speaker:Tatjana Oppitz - Country General Manager IBM Austria
Born as a daughter of diplomats in Calcutta/India in 1962, Tatjana had already an international start. In Vienna, she attended the International School, the French Lyce Francais and studied Commercial Science at the University of Economics and Business. After graduating and some years of professional experience at an American company, Tatjana joined IBM Austria in 1989, where she was one of the first women working in sales. At IBM, she started her management career as a Director of IBM Austria's Software Group, and after 15 years of sales responsibility in various departments in IBM Austria, she did pursuit her international career at the IBM Headquarter in Paris. Back from Paris, Tatjana became an Executive, being globally responsible for sales & distribution of the entire IBM portfolio to large enterprise accounts; and until 2010 she held an executive sales position for the entire CEE region (Central and Eastern Europe), including Russia and the CIS countries. In early 2011 Tatjana Oppitz became Country General Manager of IBM in Austria, a market she is very much familiar with. Since many years she is strongly supporting women's empowerment and diversity - and is particularly engaged in specific mentoring and coaching programs supporting young women in outlining their career paths. Tatjana is interested in monochrome and figurative contemporary art, theatre and opera, travelling and foreign cultures. For relaxation, she loves to take her terrier for a walk or to play golf. Tatjana Oppitz is married.
We have received numerous requests from our members asking for an advice and support in their effort to progress in their career. We have hosted a number of events inviting key representatives of multinational companies, international organizations, government agencies, universities and NGOs on issues connected with the retention and progress of senior women executives. This event will give you insights for the leadership in the IBM Austria and opens a forum for a discussion of challenges and opportunities for high potential women on their way to the executive directorship.
We hope to see many of you!
